13 years old Alysa Liu becomes youngest U.S. women’s figure skating champion in history

Alysa Liu, who is only a 13 years old skating sensation has now stunned the world by becoming the youngest US women’s champion in the history of the sports on Friday.

She had to face the most daunting task on the evening to achieve this goal as she ascended nearly two feet high on the top step of the medal podium.

At 4-7 she had no chance of making it to the top as the last year’s champion and the runner up was Bradie Tennell while Liu was in second place with Mariah Bell finishing on third.

It was until a year ago that 20 years old Tennell was the top sensational and champion while 22 years old Bell was the up and comer for several years.

However, Liu has now left both of them behind to show how quickly things can change in a sport.

By 2022, Liu will be 16 years old and eligible for participating in the 2022 Winter Olympic Games.  Liu managed to be the First American woman to win the National title after she landed on two triple axels without a care in the world. She won the title at 217.51 points while Tennell finished with 213.59 points and Bell followed her with 212.40 points.

When asked from Liu as to what she was thinking after she landed the first triple axel, she said, “I still have to do the second one. I still have every other jump in the program to do.”

When asked from Liu, as to what she was thinking after she sat down at the news conference after the vent, she said like 13 years old would, “Nothing. It still has not sunk in. I still need to think about everything I just did.”
