Team India emerged victorious over England in the third and final Women’s T20I and prevented the English side from securing a whitewash at Wankhede Stadium on Sunday. Saika Ishaque and Shreyanka Patil were key with the ball.
England Women won the toss and opted to bat first. However, they struggled to put up a fight as they were all out for 126 runs in 20 overs. Heather Knight’s standout performance of 52 runs off 42 balls, including 3 fours and 3 sixes, was the highlight for England.
The Indian bowlers, led by Saika Ishaque and Shreyanka Patil, delivered an impressive performance, restricting England. Ishaque took three wickets for 22 runs in her 4-over spell. Similarly, Shreyanka also took three wickets while conceding 19 runs in 4 overs.
India Women successfully chased down the target of 127 with 5 wickets in hand and one over to spare. Vice-captain Smriti Mandhana played a crucial role with her well-crafted 48 runs off 48 balls. She smashed 5 fours and a couple of sixes during her outstanding innings. Jemimah Rodrigues’ 29 runs off 33 balls also made a significant contribution to the successful chase. Freya Kemp was the most successful bowler for England, taking 2 wickets for 24 runs.
England Women won the first T20I by 38 runs, and the second T20I by 4 wickets. However, India Women bounced back in the third T20I to secure a 5-wicket victory, as the series ended with a 2-1 scoreline in favor of England Women.
