Ankit Kaliyar highlighted that Virat Kohli’s exceptional fitness level is a result of his disciplined approach, regardless of his playing schedule.

Renowned for his exceptional fitness, Virat Kohli’s success in ODIs is attributed to his adept running between the wickets and strategic gap maneuvering. In preparation for the 2023 Asia Cup, Kohli shared his Yo-Yo Test score on Instagram, revealing an impressive 17.2, surpassing the required benchmark of 17.1.

In a conversation with The Times of India, Ankit Kaliyar highlighted Virat Kohli’s unwavering commitment to a strict routine. Kaliyar emphasized that Kohli’s religious adherence to his fitness regimen not only makes him the fittest athlete in India but also globally.

“Virat Kohli is the fittest player in the Indian team and the world. The reason behind that is that he’s following a strict schedule. Whether he’s playing or not, he follows or takes care of his nutrition, training, supplementation, and conditioning part really well. He is very religious about his regime and routine. He’s the fittest athlete in India and throughout the world,” Kaliyar said.

The 35-year-old was the leading run-scorer at the 2023 World Cup, amassing 765 runs in 11 innings with a remarkable average of 95.62, including three centuries and six half-centuries. He was named the Player of the Tournament for his contributions.

Kohli opted to take a break from the white-ball games during India’s tour of South Africa, considering his busy schedule over the past few months. The former Indian skipper is set to join the squad for the two-match Test series, starting on December 26 in Centurion.
