Former Indian cricketer Aakash Chopra criticized the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) for mishandling Shivam Dube and questioned his omission from the ongoing T20I series against South Africa.
Chopra expressed his surprise at the BCCI’s management of players, specifically highlighting Shivam Dube’s selection. He pointed out that Dube was picked for the T20I series against Australia, but was dropped from the squad without playing a single game.
Aakash Chopra also questioned the communication between selectors and Shivam Dube after his exclusion from the squad, stating:
“Sometimes you wonder about selections and certain players. India picked Shivam Dubey for a 5-match T20i series vs Australia. Didn’t play him in a single match. Now, he doesn’t make it to the 17-member squad vs SA. How does one communicate this to a player?”

Shivam Dube returned to the Indian team after a strong IPL 2023 performance for Chennai Super Kings. Despite his impressive stats, he has faced challenges in gaining a spot in the Indian squad and has not been able to secure a place in the playing XI.
Aakash Chopra predicts the result for the South Africa series
Aakash Chopra shared his prediction for the India tour to South Africa 2023-24, foreseeing a win for South Africa with a margin of 5-3 in the multi-format series. He stated:
“I view South Africa as slightly ahead in the entire series. I might be entirely mistaken, and I hope I am, but I foresee a few more matches favouring South Africa. It could end up 5-3 in their favour.”
India will be playing three T20Is, three ODIs, and two Tests on their tour to South Africa.
