The Scottish player played his first match since September on New Year’s Day against James Duckworth at the first round of the Brisbane International, which he won.

He was defeated on the following day in the round two of the tournament by Daniil Medvedev. Now his next match will be at the first round of this year’s first Grand Slam event; the Australian Open.
