Argentina wins over Venezuela by 2-0 to set Copa América semifinal match against Brazil

Lionel Messi was having trouble in the match but Argentinean team came through to still win over Venezuela by 2-0 on their Friday night quarterfinals match to make it to the semis of the Copa America. With this win, they will now face Brazil in the semifinal.

Messi was marked heavily by the Venezuelan defenders the Maracanã Stadoium and was unable to perform his best play but his teammates were quick enough to get the advantage of it to give their 4th best performance in their last few matches.

Argentina and Brazil will now face each other for the semis at the Belo Horizonte’s Mineirão Stadium on Tuesday. Brazilian team advanced to semifinals after winning over Paraguay on penalties on Thursday.

There are going to be nearly 50000 fans for both Brazil and Argentina at the Stadium for the semifinals which clearly show as to how intense the environment is going to be in this match.

Lionel Scaloni, the coach of Argentina said, “We have to play the very same way we played here tonight and not to think anything about our archrival. It is going to be a football match for the people who love football and live for football. This is not going to be for us who just sit on the bench.”

The first goal of Argentina was scored by Lautaro Martínez, who was named the Man of the Match, during the 10th minute as his back heel kick deflected a shot of Sergio Aguero and into the box.

The 2nd goal of the game was made by the Argentinean midfielder named Giovani Lo Celso during the 74th minute. Giovani Lo Celso had entered the game a few minutes before and he easily pushed the ball into the empty net to hand Argentina its quarterfinals win.

Lautaro said, “Brazil is going to be a very tough rival and it is not just because they are going to play at home.”
