Roger Federer the six times champion has made it to the semi finals of the ATP Finals; his 15th out of 16 appearances. He topped the Group Lleyton Hewitt by gaining a win over Kevin Anderson by 6-4 and 6-3.
Federer was able to win the match by a straight sets win.
On the other hand, Dominic Thiem became the first player of South Africa ever in the history of the tournament to qualify in the knock out stages and made it all the way to the semi finals of the ATP Finals.
Federer displayed some glorious tennis on the London‘s O2 arena on Thursday night as he maintained his record of always reaching to the semi finals of the ATP Finals ever since the tournament moved to London back in 2009.
Federer after the match said to media, “I am very happy. The first match with Nishikori was tough for me and I was kinda backed up in the corner. Kevin is a great player but I am still happy to make it into the semis.”
