Barcelona routs last-placed Leganés with 2-1 victory in Spanish League

With Barcelona failing to make use of their world-class kicking offense against the worst team currently in Spanish League, they were forced to use their underused weapon to hold the top spot in the rankings.

Barcelona, in their match against the Leganes, the last place dream of Spanish League was able to gain a 2-1 victory. This victory was all thanks due to the late second-half goals from Luis Suárez and Arturo Vidal respectively.

Barcelona is a soccer club that is renowned for its passing based attacks and for their buildups to generate amazing goals. However, in their match against Leganés, Leganes was able to produce 2 lines of the well-coordinated defenders on the front side to foil all the attempts from Barcelona for most of the game.

The 2 goals from Barcelona were achieved via their free-kick and the corner which lead to a defensive error. This victory now ensures that Barcelona remains ahead of its rival team Real Madrid for the goal difference.

Ernesto Valverde, coach of Barcelona said, “There were too many players on the field’s center that we had to look for the set pieces. Today we saw the need to score on a cross or the isolated play because lining up is nearly impossible in the middle.”

As for the 2nd place Real Madrid in Spanish League, they were able to concede only 1 goal as they routed Real Sociedad for a 3-1 victory.

On the other hand, Atlético Madrid was held to a 1-1 draw against Granada before they visit Juventus for a match of Champions League on the coming Tuesday. Currently, Atlético is third on the rankings of the Spanish League.
