Carl Frampton was due to for a scheduled fight against Emmanuel Dominguez but now he has to withdraw from this fight due to suffering from a freak accident.
The Northern Irishman fighter said that a piece of large ornament placed in the lobby of the hotel fell on his left hand and fractured the fifth metacarpal of his hand.
The 32 years old boxer was due for a fight against Emmanuel Dominguez of Mexico on Saturday of this week which is ahead of his shot for the featherweight title.
He said in a Twitter statement, “I am totally devastated.”
One day before this accident, Frampton also tweeted a video of himself where he was running on a treadmill with the caption, “Last Hard Session”. He also added to the statement, “It is fight week now. Training is done and now time to focus on the fight.”
This injury has marked another setback for Frampton on his way to becoming a world champion.
Back in December, he had considered about retiring from boxing following his defeat at hands of Josh Warrington but then he started preparation for a fight with Emmanuel Dominguez this summer.
Frampton, who had been the featherweight and Super-bantamweight world champion, had signed a deal in March with the US promoters named Top Rank.
