As Damien Lillard of the Portland Trail Blazers was doubled teamed, Carmelo Anthony stepped for the team as he sunk the game-winning basket to let his team win over Toronto Raptors.
Anthony made the clutch shot with only 4 seconds to the clock as the Portland Trail Blazers made a rally to win over Raptors by 101-99 on Tuesday night.
Lillard said of Antony, “A guy with the type of ability as Anthony, it is only a matter of an opportunity. He had one player guarding him but he still got to his spot. Once he reached his spot and I saw him raising his arms, it thought it was going in.”
Anthony scored 28 points while Lillard added in his 20 points and Hassan Whiteside scoring 14 points with 16 rebounds to have his 6th double-double in 6 games in a row for the Portland Trail Blazers. With this win, Trail Blazers ended their 4-game losing skid in Toronto and have won for the 2nd time in their last 10 games against the defending champions Toronto Raptors.
Anthony said, “This is a great confidence boost for us and a big morale boost as well.”
As for Terry Stotts, the coach for Portland Trail Blazers, he also agrees. He said, “I am really proud of the way our team played tonight, especially during the 4th quarter. At the end of this season, you take a look back on different games and this could definitely be a game where we look back that we turned the tide of the whole game.”
Other payers of Portland Trail Blazers, Anfernee Simons had 12 points while CJ McCollum scored 10 points, as he made a comeback after he had to sit in the Sunday’s loss of team due to respiratory infection.
Up next, Trail Blazers will be visiting Minnesota for a game on Thursday night against the Timberwolves while Raptors will have a game on Wednesday night against the Charlotte Hornets.
