Stephen Curry and the Golden State Warriors saw a weakness in their opponents and decided to exploit it.
After Washington Wizards took the 3-point line away, Stephen Curry and the Warriors pounced on the ball to gain a 126-118 victory on Thursday night. With this win, the winning streak of Warriors now extends to a season-high 9 games. Curry took the lead of the Warriors with his 38 points.
Curry said, “Got to take what the defense gives you. I think we got the ball early and moved it really well to establish ourselves from the start.”
Golden State Warriors, the two-time defending NBA champion managed to rake in the massive 70 points in the first quarter.
DeMarcus Cousins, who was making his first appearance this season after missing one whole year de t a ruptured Achilles tendon, scored 17 points in his 24 minutes on the court.
Kevin Durant who is a native of the nearby Suitland, Maryland scored 21 points.
As for the Wizards, they were led by Trevor Ariza who scored his season high of 27 points while Bradley Beal scored his 22 points. With this loss, Wizards’ two-game winning streak comes to a halt.
Beal said, “I think we are turning a corner and we are still not there yet. We still to have dug ourselves out of this in which we are currently stuck. There is only a short amount of time left for this but we do have a great opportunity ahead of us.”
Curry with this game has surpassed 30 or more points in a game for the 19th time this season. As for Drummond Green, he grabbed his career high of 15 rebounds in this game.
Up next, Warriors who are looking for their tenth straight win will face their old rivals Kyrie Irving and the Boston Celtics on Saturday while Washington Wizards will start their three-game road trip on Friday when they will play against the Orlando Magic.
