Dortmund drops their Bundesliga lead once more following 2-1 loss to Hoffenheim

Borussia Dortmund made mistake to let the lead slipped from the hand for Bundesliga once more in their straight loss to Hoffenheim by 2-1 on Friday night. Hoffenheim scored the 2 goals late in the match of the Bundesliga to get this win.

Dortmund has now dropped their lead 2 times by first allowing Leipzig to have a draw with them by 3-3 on the Tuesday night game of Bundesliga.  This time they made some more mistakes particularly from Mario Götze who gave the visiting team the early lead in the game.

This is the 19th game for Dortmund in the last 17 games where they have now dropped points and this will be bad PR for the team as they are heading to the winter break of Bundesliga.

Dortmund, the team which had declared the challenge for title before the start of the season, currently remains on 4th spot which is 4 points behind the lead and now they hope for a win against their bitter rivals; Schalke in their Saturday night game.

Julian Weigl, a midfielder for Dortmund said, “We were really in need of the 3 points here.  We are very much disappointed with this loss.”

Götze made the most for the team with the game’s first goal in the 17th minute. Much of Götze’s performance was due to Achraf Hakimi who had outpaced defenders of Hoffenheim with the ball to pass it to Götze. A for the attempt by Sebastian Rudy to clear the line off came a little too late.

The first goal for Hoffenheim was scored by Robert Skov  when he made a shot that hit the crossbar and went into the net.
