In the final match of the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships played between Roger Federer and Stefanos Tsitsipas, Federer, the legendary Swiss player not only won the tournament but also claimed his 100th ATP Tour Title.
With this win, Federer not only has won his 100th ATP title but also avenged his Australian Open defeat against Tsitsipas in the fourth round. Federer won the match by 6-4 and 6-4 which has now made him the second man to have won the singles titles in three figures.
The only other tennis player to have achieved the mark in the professional era is Jimmy Connors with his 109 titles. As for Federer, he has been stuck at 99 since winning the trophy back in October at Basel.
Federer, during his on-court interview, said, “I am very delighted to have won my 8th title in Dubai along with my 100th singles title. To win in Marseilles and to play back here was tough for Tsitsipas. I don’t even know if Stefanos was born when I won my first title. Stefanos is a great player and regardless, if I am in tennis or not, the sport of tennis is already in good hands.”
