Federer beats De Minaur to win his 10th title of the Swiss Indoors

On Sunday, in the final match of the Swiss Indoors between the hometown favorite Roger Federer and Alex De Minaur, Federer was able to win his 10th title of the Swiss Indoors following a 6-2 and 6-2 win against De Minaur.

38 years old Federer was able to display the best tennis he could play against his 20 years old opponent who was not even born when the great Swiss tennis star became professional and played for the first time in Basel back in 1998.

This 10th Swiss Indoors title win in Basel was one of the most efficient of all the others for Federer who did not drop a single set during the 4 matches. He was also never pushed to the brink of a tiebreaker.

During the trophy ceremony of the Swiss Indoors, De Minaur said, “I was really hoping that Federer would get really sick of winning the event so many times and would give someone else a chance to win. Too good again. That was an amazing match.”

He final of the Sunday at Swiss Indoors was played for 68 minutes and the longest match for Federer the whole last week was of 79 minutes.

Federer said, “It was a fast match but really nice. I think I played a really amazing match. I was also great on the offense and made really few unforced errors. I was making big shots and my serve was also well.”

The 4th title of the 2019’s season for Federer is won his 103rd career singles titles. As for De Minaur, he has 100 fewer titles as compared to Federer but he has still won all the singles finals he has played this season except the Swiss Indoors final.

With this win, Federer has also become the winner 10th time at the grass-court event at Halle, Germany.
