Four peopel died after rival fans broke a riot at the soccer game in Honduras

A spokeswoman of the hospital said that as a result of the riot started by the rival fans at the soccer game in Honduras, 4 people have died after suffering from grave injuries. The riots which occurred on Saturday night had many injured people which also included 3 soccer players as well.

The match was between the long-time rival teams of Olympia and Motagua soccer clubs which was held on Saturday night at the National Stadium located in Tegucigalpa; the capital city of Honduras. Violence at the match started after the crowd started throwing objects at the team bus of Motagua club.

Ate the gals of the bus window was shattered, three soccer players suffered injuries and were then transported to the local hospital. The players who were injured have been identified as Jonathan Rougier, Emilio Izaguirre, and Roberto Moreira.

Even after the game was canceled, fighting suddenly started both outside and side of the stadium between the fans of the 2 teams and that resulted in injuries and deaths. According to stadium officials, nearly 20000 fans were expected to attend this game and nearly 1000 of these fans were located inside the stadium taking part in the massive riot, as per the report from Jair Meza, the spokesperson of police.

Juliette Chavarría, the spokeswoman for the Honduras State University Hospital said hat 3 spectators died on Saturday night while the 4th one died on Sunday morning. As for the other three injured fans, they are in a stable condition.

According to the media, police had to use tear gas to scatter the rioting fans whose stampede injured many. This riot happened even after the Ministry of Security for this sporting event set up a total of 5 rings of security before the game.

Marcos Castellanos, the driver of the Motagua team bus said, “we were about to leave the bus when our bus was attacked by nearly 350 people who had a bottle in hands on the street.”
