Glasgow derby at Scottish Premiership ended as Rangers beat Celtic by 2-1

The race for the title of the Scottish Premiership had a match between two rivals of Glasgow; Rangers and Celtic and that ended with Rangers beating the Scottish Premiership leader Celtic by 2-1.

The game-winning goal for this Scottish Premiership game was made by Nikola Katic which was a header shot.

With this win, Rangers are now only 2 points behind the Celtic with still 1 game in hand as they seek to win their first Scottish Premiership title since 2011.

Steven Gerrard, the current manager of Rangers and the former captain for England Liverpool said, “This club has not enjoyed much success and joy in the league for a very long time now. We have now come here and are facing real big challenges abut we have dominated the majority of the games. This is why many of the team’s players deserve an awful lot of credit.”

The match sparked into life after Celtic attempted a goal during the 33rd minute but Allan McGregor, the Rangers’ goalie stopped an attempt by Celtic’s Ryan Christie on a penalty kick. The penalty was awarded after Christopher Jullien was pulled back by Rangers’ Katic.

Rangers were able to score the game’s first goal from Ryan Kent during the 36th minute but Celtic was then able to equalize it with a goal from Odsonne Edouard only six minutes after on a shot from Callum McGregor.

But Rangers were put in the lead once more with a header goal from Katic after only 11 minutes into the 2nd half as he moved the ball from the corner of the net.

Rangers’ Alfredo Morelos was given his 7th red card and his 2nd in the last 3 games during the stoppage time after he received a booking for making a dive.

Previously Celtic has won the last 8 Scottish Premiership titles.
