Grimaldi and Smith lead Nashville Predators 4-1 win over the LA Kings

If somehow the Nashville Predators are making it back into the contention for a spot in the NHL playoffs this season, then it will be due to Roman Josi, their star defenseman.

Josi had 2 assists to increase his points streak in his career-high of 9 NHL games while Rocco Grimaldi and Craig Smith both helped the Nashville Predators with 1 goal and 1 assist each to win over the LA Kings by 4-1 on Saturday night. With this win, Nashville Predators ended their 3-game losing streak.

Josi, who tied with Shea Weber for the longest points streak in the history of Nashville Predators, said, “Obviously we were not happy with the way we were playing the last 3 games and yes, it was a big win for the team. You saw the game; everybody brought their A-game ad that is what we needed the most.”

The other 2 goals for the Nashville Predators were scored by Yakov Trenin and Ryan Johansen while their goalie Pekka Rinne stopped 23 shots from Kings.

As for the only goal of the Kings on Saturday night, it was scored by Alex Iafallo on the power play while their goalie Jack Campbell made 34 saves as the team lost their 5th game in the last 7 games.

Despite playing without his regular partner on ice Ryan Ellis, Josi was able to perform well on both ends of the game. His partner Ellis is out of the season due to the upper-body injury he sustained during the Dallas Stars game from an elbow hit by Corey Perry at the 2020’s Winter Classic game. Another key player that Nashville Predators were missing was Dante Fabbro, who is on day to day due to the upper-body injury.

Up ext, Nashville Predators ill play on Sunday against the Anaheim Ducks while the LA Kings will have a game on Monday against the Blue Jackets.
