Irving scores 40 points to lead Celtics to win over Sixers by 121-114

Kyrie Irving managed to extend the game with a  clutch shot and then in overtime he made two more shot to seal the team’s win.

The Tuesday night game of basketball between Boston Celtics VS Philadelphia 76ers ended with a win for the Celtics by 121-114.

Kyrie Irving led the Celtics with his 40 points as he drove the game into the overtime for a win.

Irving said to media, “just competition at its highest. I love going against the best. It is not so often that you get to do that against a team like Sixers in the regular season and especially on a holiday like Christmas. I got to open presents with my family this morning and then I got back to work. It was great”.

Kyrie Irving tied the game at 109 with only 20 seconds remaining to the game with a 13 feet fade away jumper shot to put the game into overtime.

Brett Brown, the Sixers coach said, “There are not many in his weight class. Inevitably, you have got to stop him (Irving).”

Irving with 2 minutes to the overtime shot a 3 pointer to pick Boston up by 115-114 and then he again made a shot from 30 feet away with 1:29 to the OT to seal the game in Celtics favor. With this Celtics are now at 2-0 against the Sixers this season.

Other players from the Celtics side, Jayson Tatum and Marcus Morris both scored 23 points each while Terry Rozier added in his 10 points.

As for Sixers, they were led by Joel Embiid who scored 34 points for the night as he completed 12 out of 12 of his free throws and pulled down 16 rebounds for the team. Other players of Sixers like Jimmy Butler scored 24 points; JJ Redick scored 17 points while Ben Simmons added in his 11 points with 14 rebounds and 8 assists for the team.

Up next, Philadelphia 76ers will play against Utah Jazz on Thursday while Boston Celtics will play against Houston Rockets on Thursday night.
