Jorge Masvidal defeats Nate Diaz on his controversial stoppage victory

The UFC fight between Nate Diaz and Jorge Masvidal which also featured the former wrestling sensation and the current Hollywood A-lister Dwayne The Rock Johnson, was perhaps Nitin K. Sethi, the Chief Medical Officer of the New York State Athletic Commission, who decided to be the star of the night.

The fight between Jorge Masvidal and his rival Nate Diaz had been as advertised for the first 3 rounds at the UFC 244 main event of the welterweight division for the title of BMF.

Diaz, who has a career of 20-12 MMA and 15-10 UFC, suffered a cut both below and above his right eye but he still fought his way into this fight as he has done many times in his career. However, it was Sethi, he took a cursory view of Diaz’s eye in the break during the rounds and called the fight off which led to the disappointment of the crowd at the Madison Square Garden.

The fight was stopped at the mark of 5:00 into the 3rd round but the opponent of Diaz, Jorge Masvidal made clear that he was not satisfied with this premature stoppage and is also ready to take on his challenger once more as soon as possible.  Jorge Masvidal’s career record is 35-15 MMA and 11-6 UFC.

Jorge Masvidal told Diaz, “for a fact, you gave me the love and I also give you my love. I do not like to leave the ring while still, my opponent is conscious. We have to fight again.”

In this fight, Jorge Masvidal had been fierce from the get-go and he landed heavy hands followed with malicious kicks as he set the tone of the fight in the 1st round. Diaz was caught by Jorge Masvidal’s elbow and then with a sneaky kick to the head that sent him falling to the mat. It was then that the wound on Diaz’s eye seemed to have burst open.

The Rock was the one who came into the octagon and places the BMF belt that had been specially made around the waist of Jorge Masvidal as Jorge Masvidal accepted it with gratitude.
