Golden State Warriors earlier packed quite a punch with their 16-point lead in the first quarter but they could not beat the Phoenix Suns.
The Suns were able to make a swinging comeback against the two-time defending champions as they took them out in a fashion by 115-111 in front of a sellout crowd of 19596 at the Oracle Arena on Sunday night.
Kelly Oubre Jr, Suns forward said, “Big time. We came in and we fought. We were down by 16 points. We still held on to fight. We came up with a big win against a team which is best in the NBA. This win shows our growth. It shows that all the things that have happened to us, we are putting them into motion. So yeah I am proud of our guys.”
Devin Booker led the Suns with his game–high 37 points on top of his 11 assists and 8 rebounds. Phoenix Suns who are currently 16-52 on the season made a huge comeback after their Saturday night loss of 127-120 against the Trail Blazers.
With this win, Suns have now broken their 18-game losing skid against the Warriors who are currently 45-21 on the season. Suns previously defeated Warriors back on November 9th, 2014. As for a game at Oracle Area, they last won a game back on Feb 7th, 2011.
Igor Kokoskov, the Suns coach said, “I can’t describe as to how much proud I am of our guys, considering the fact that they played at their home court. This was a very special moment and a special game for our team.’
Warriors not only lost the game, their one of the star players Kevin Durant ales suffered a knee contusion with 6:34 minutes to the game. He did not return after finishing the night for 25 points.
