According to the coroner’s report, the woman who died last year, the cause of her death was being struck in the head by a foul ball at Dodger Stadium.
Linda Goldbloom, the mother of three and grandmother of 7, was celebrating her 79th birthday and her 59th wedding anniversary at the game between the Los Angeles Dodgers and San Diego Padres held on August 25th of last year.
The ball hit by a player of Padres went to the area which was unprotected by netting alone and struck Goldbloom in the head. As a result of this injury, she died after four days at L.A. County-USC Medical Center.
According to the Los Angeles County coroner’s report; the trauma she suffered from the batted ball was the cause of her death.
Dodgers, in a statement said they were deeply saddened by the death of Goldbloom and that the “matter has been resolved between the Dodgers and the Goldbloom family.”
All 30 major league ballparks, in the last season, expanded protective netting that reached the far ends of each dugout.
This push for the extension of the netting increased after 2017 when lots of spectators got injured.
