Marc-Edouard Vlasic the defenseman of the San Jose Sharks is waiting for the NHL to apologize to him formally for an officiating mistake he believes to be critical on Sunday night’s game by the league officials.
Vlasic said, “I am taking the high road. I am waiting for an apology.”
In the game 2 between San Jose Sharks vs. Avalanches of the first round series of playoffs, Vlasic and Mikko Rantanen were making the race for a probable icing at 1-1 in the game. No whistle was made by the officials as they believed Rantanen had won the race.
Sharks considering that the icing had been made did not react quickly enough on the non-call. Gabriel Landeskog of Avs made the first shot which the Sharks goalie Martin Jones stopped but Tyson Barrie nearby scored the shot to give Avs the lead which led to their victory.
The thing which Sharks saw as icing, Avs saw it totally different.
Pete DeBoer, Sharks coach said that his opinion did not matter. His only take is that in the playoffs no one can assume a call will be made r not. It means that Sharks should have just kept on playing as if they were not going to get the call but they did not.
