Michael Phelps; ‘it is sad that WADA has lifted the Russian doping ban’

Michael Phelps; the Olympic legend has called for a new leadership following the WADA‘s decision of reinstating the Russia from its doping charges on Friday.

The American swim star said that “it was sad” that WADA has lifted the tree years ban from Russia’s RUSADA and allowing the Russian players to compete in the upcoming competitions.

Phelps said in a statement, “when is an organization going to take responsibility and take charge of the change. This is not what sports it. Sports are not something like putting performance enhancing drugs in your body and performing.”

WADA suspended RUSAD back in November 2015 following a long investigation that was actually an elaborate scheme but RUSADA to conceal the use of performance enhancer during the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympics.

Phelps, the winner of 23 Olympic Gold Medals in years 2004, 2008, 2012 and 2016 said, “It’s really sad to see all this”.

He further added, “I have complained about this and I have testified about this but still nothing has changed. Where should we go next, what else can be done? Somebody must take charge if WADA is not going to do anything.”

The act by WADA has also been condemned by WADA Vice President Linda Helland who called this “dark shadow over the credibility of anti doping movement. Another person who condemned this was Jim Laden, the lawyer of Russian doping whistle blower who called this, a greatest treachery against clean athletes of Olympic history”.

Phelps was clearly much devastated by WADA’s decision and said to media that, “I am frustrated to see an organization like WADA behaving such way to sports. I m frustrated by thought that have I ever played in a clean Olympic field or not. I believe that if you test positive from doping test, you should not be allowed to compete but I think other people don’t believe it.”
