Mike Yastrzemski, the Boston Red Sox legend Carl Yastrzemski’s grandson scores a home run at the Fenway Park

Mike Yastrzemski, the rookie for the MLB team New York giants made a an emotional return on his hometown state of Massachusetts when he was playing his first ever game at the Fenway park in Boston on Tuesday the name of Mike Yastrzemski should be a bit familiar to you because he happens to be the grandson of the Carl Yastrzemski, the legend of Boston Red Sox.

During the top 4th inning, Mike Yastrzemski made the moment special for not only his team but for his family as well.




As the Gains were leading the game by 4-1, Yastrzemski scored a homerun towards the center field of the Fenway Park.

This is the same stadium where his grandfather Carl Yastrzemski scored a total of 237 home runs to earn a spot in the Hall of Fame. This was the 20th home run from the 29 years old rookie during this season.

Prior to the game, Yastrzemski received a standing ovation from the Boston crowd before his first at-bat showing their appreciation for the Yaz family.

Mike told media about the crowd’s ovation, “The reaction of the crowd all night was really incredible. I cannot tank the crowd enough for showing me support even if I am on the opposing team. It is really unheard of and it was really a special thing.”

Previously Carl Yastrzemski had played 23 seasons of MLB during his career from year 1961 to 1983. He has been the All-Star for 18 times along with winning the MVP title in 1967 when he scored the Triple Crown of baseball. Back in 1989, Carl Yastrzemski was inducted in the Hall of Fame, which was the year before his grandson Mike Yastrzemski was born.

The New York Giants won the game against Boston Red Sox by 7-6 in the 15 innings match.
