Mohammed Shami has a hat-trick in India’s win over Afghanistan in world cup match

India managed to avert the huge crisis of being ousted out of the last four of the World Cup teams after they got an 11-run win over Afghanistan in a match held at The Hampshire Bowl.

Afghanistani team’s bowling side performed well as they held the heavy hitters of the Indian team to mere 224 runs with the loss of 8 wickets.

They only needed 16 runs to complete the chase target in the 50t over with three wickets to spare after Muhammad Nabi with his 52 runs off of 55 balls kept their hopes of winning the match alive.

However, Muhammad Shami who took 4 wickets while giving away mere 40 runs, who earlier got a blazing four from Nabi on the first ball of the final over, caused the batsmen to be caught out on the 3rd ball of the over.

He then bowled out Aftab Alam and then Mujeeb Ur Rahman consecutively to not only have his world cup hat-trick but also to deny Afghanistan their historic win. With this win, India’s hope to stay in the world cup contention stay alive and they still remain unbeaten.

India earlier had a stunning bowling performance as they dropped the wickets of Rahmat Shah who scored 36 runs and Hashmatullah Shahidi who scored 21 runs, both in the 29th over.

The Afghanistani by that time had already slipped to 106 runs with the loss of 4 wickets. It was not until after Nabi came to pitch, who gave a scare to the champions of the 1983 and 2011 World Cups.

This was the 6th defeat in a row for Afghanistan but with this one, they have won the hearts of millions of cricket fans across the globe as they held the almighty Indian team, who earlier managed to ease past a score limit of 300 runs against teams like Australia and Pakistan.
