Morant and Brooks lead Memphis Grizzlies’ 121-110 win over Houston Rockets

Back at the start of the NBA season, the young team of Memphis Grizzlies players were having trouble in closing out their games but now after having their longest winning streak in the last 3 years, they have overcome this problem.

Memphis Grizzlies outscored the Rockets by 36-27 during the 4th quarter of their Tuesday night game to end it with a 121-110 victory. With this, the Memphis Grizzlies have now extended their winning streak to 6 games which is their longest one since December of 2016.

Ja Morant, the rookie guard of the Memphis Grizzlies scored 26 points along with 8 assists while Dillon Brooks added in his 24 points to lead the team. As for Jonas Valanciunas, he scored 19 points and Jaren Jackson Jr. scored 15 points.

Morant only missed 1 of his total 11 shots and emcee the first rookie in NBA history who has scored 25 points or more while handing 8 or more assists and having a shooting percentage of 90% from the field.

Brooks, talking about the 4th quarter’s problem earlier during the season, “Early on, we would tend to stagnate and we would then run the same thing over and over again. Now we have more diversity with Ja reaching the middle and making great decisions and plays.”

Brooks was also the one who guarded the star of Rockets; James Harden; the leading scorer of NBA. Harden was made responsible for scoring duties more in this game as the teammate Russell Westbrook had to sit the sit in the team’s back-to-back games. Harden still scored 41 points in what was the fifth straight victory for the Memphis Grizzlies.

Up next, Houston Rockets will start their 4-game homestand with the first game against the Portland Trail Blazers while Memphis Grizzlies will host a game on Friday against the Cleveland Cavaliers.
