Tom Brady won the sixth record Super Bowl as the New England Patriots tie with the Pittsburgh Steelers’ six hauls of Vince Lombardi Trophies after they defeated the Los Angeles Rams by 13-3 for the Super Bowl LIII; the lowest scoring Super Bowl match in the NFL history.
The game was that much of high scoring thriller as the defense of both sides was strong because the first TD only was made after 53 whole minutes.
In both half times, teams only scored field goals before Patriots were able to take a lead in the fourth quarter as Sony Michel scored a score-line TD and Stephen Gilmore intercepted Jared Goff.
Rams tied the game with a 53-yard field goal from Greg Zuerlein. Rams had the chance to take lead in the earlier drive but Goff delayed the ball in delivery to the Wide receiver Brandon Cooks in the end zone.
This error was the one that plagued Goff’s first Super Bowl appearance as he only managed to complete half of his 38 throws for 229 yards.
After Zuerlein’s field goal, Patriots seemed to have woken from their slumber as Tom Brady completed an important 29 yards pass to Rob Gronkowski who then passed it on to Michel Sonny for the TD.
Goff tried to tie things up again as he found Cooks for a TD but it fell incomplete. He tried to do the same play again but it again fell incomplete after a poor pass pick by Gilmore.
After that, Patriots only ran down the clock while adding in three further points for good measure as they created the NFL history.
SECOND QUARTER
Patriots 3-0 Rams: Stephen Gostkowski made a 42-yard field goal.
THIRD QUARTER
Patriots 3-3 Rams: Greg Zuerlein made a 53-yard field goal.
FOURTH QUARTER
Patriots 10-3 Rams: Sony Michel made a 2-yard run.
Patriots 13-3 Rams: Stephen Gostkowski made a 41-yard field goal.
