New Orleans Saints 12-9 Carolina Panthers; Saints close in on top seed in NFC after a hard fought win

On the Monday night’s game of cagey football between Ne Orleans Saints VS Carolina Panthers, Saints were able to lock on their top seed place in the NFC and the home field advantage in the playoffs by winning the game by 12-9.

Saints defense, which has been the best out of all the team’s this season, held Cam Newton to mere 131 passing yards along with sacking him four times and forcing him to make two turnovers for the night.

The only score Carolina Panthers gained on the night was due to a trick play in the first half. Tight end Christian McCaffrey made a 50-yard TD pass to the tight end Chris Manhertz on the fourth down.

This touchdown from McCaffrey was the first pass in his career and it also saw him become the first non-QB from panthers to throw a TD pass in the Carolina Panthers long history.
