Next Gen Finals; De Minaur tops Fokina, Tiafoe loses

The Australian player Alex de Minaur who is the top-seeded player at the Next Gen Finals held In Milan, was able to win his opening match against the opponent Alejandro Davidovich Fokina.

In this first-round match of Next Gen Finals, De Minaur defeated his opponent by 4-2, 3-4, 4-1 and 4-1. The Next Gen Finals tournament features a unique format of 5 sets with each set is won by winning 4 games.

For the last season, De Minaur had been the runner up for this year-end event featuring under-21 players.

In the Group A match of the Next Gen Finals, Serbian Miomir Kecmanovic was able to win his match against Norway’s Casper Rudd by 4-3, 4-3 and 4-2.

As for the Group B match between the 18 years old Jannik Sinner of Italy and the home crowd favorite and 2nd seeded US player Frances Tiafoe, it was Jannik Sinner who win the match by 3-4, 4-2, 4-2, and 4-2.

For the Italian player, this is his first win of the Next Gen Finals while playing the event for the 3rd year in a row.

Also, Sweden’s Mikael Ymer defeated Ugo Humbert of France by 44-3, 1-4, 4-2 and 4-1.
