Nikola Jokic’s late winner helps Denver Nuggets beat Sixers by 100-97

Nikola Jokic made the winning shot for the Denver Nuggets and then he pleaded for it to fall into the basket as he himself fell to the court.

He said, “I was hoping. I mean you are happy that you have not missed it because then everybody is going to be really mad at you. The whole arena was going to be disappointed.”

Instead of disappointment, the big man of Denver Nuggets sent the home crowd with a memory of the game they will not forget soon enough.

Jokic’s 20-foot jumper with only 1.2 seconds left to the game helped the Denver Nuggets to finish their late rally of 21-point during the 4th quarter. This alt rally and the jumper from Jokic allowed for Denver Nuggets to win over Philadelphia 76ers by 100-97.

The team said, “This is the largest comeback of the 4th quarter in the history of the franchise.”

Jokic scored 26 points, 16 of which were scored during the 4th quarter, but none of them were grander than his jumper from the court’s left side and then saw him going to the floor. Before he was about to make this jumper, he made a pass to Paul Millsap but he did not seem to be able to make the attempt. He then passed the ball back to Jokic. On this next possession, Jokic drew the offensive foul over Joel Embidd of 76ers right close to the basket. This foul frustrated Embidd as this was the 6th foul of the night.

Jokic cracked about this foul saying, “I am kind of really heavy so he needs to push me a lot to push me off. I felt as if he pushed me too strong.”

The top scorers from 76ers’ side were Raul Neto and Tobias Harris with their 13 points each. The team was playing without Ben Simmons who is still recovering from his sprain of the AC joint on the right shoulder.

Up next, 76ers will host a game against the Charlotte Hornets while Denver Nuggets will host a gamer against Minnesota Timberwolves.
