Novak Djokovic dismisses the concerns over elbow injury and plans to appear at the Davis Cup

Novak Djokovic has made his stance clear on participating in the revamped Davis Cup next week despite suffering from the sharp pain he felt during his match against Roger Federer at ATP Finals.

Novak Djokovic, the champion of the season sending tournament 5 times in the past got defeated by Federer by 6-4 and 6-3. This win allows for 38 years old Federer to advance to the semifinals of the ATP Finals in London.

Djokovic suffered from his injury during the 2nd set of his match against the Swiss Great which was held at the O2 Arena. Still, Novak Djokovic never showed any real signs of having his game affected due to the injury.

Novak Djokovic, the winner of the 16 Grand Slams is set to make his headline as the leader of the Serbian team for the Davis Cups’ week-long matches. The Davis Cup this year will be held in Madrid and Novak Djokovic is optimistic that he will not be prevented by his injury in participating in the tournament.

Novak Djokovic said, “I hope that it is nothing really serious that will prevent me from playing in Madrid. The pain at that time was sharp but I was still able to play. So it was something serious, I think that I would not have had been able to hold the racket. In my opinion, I think that it was an awkward sudden moment that triggered this pain. I did not feel any pain or any other issue afterward.”

The Davis Cup this year will be changed in contrast to the 199 years old format. 18 teams from their anions will be divided into 6 groups with each group having 3 teams. These teams will bid to win the tournament.

Novak Djokovic had won the Davis Cup last time in 2010 and is excited to take part in it once more.

This season, Novak Djokovic has won 2 major Grand Slam titles; one at the Australian Open and the other one at the Wimbledon where he defeated Federer in the final.
