Naomi Osaka of Japan has managed to win against Dominika Cibulkova by 6-2 and 6-1 in their Wednesday match. This win allowed her to move up to the quarter finals of the Pan Pacific Open; which is actually her first tournament after winning the US Open.
20 years old Osaka who stunned the tennis world and the champion Serena Williams after defeating her became the world’s first Japanese Grand Slam Singles Champion. She was able to win this match in just 59 minutes by firing own ten aces.
Osaka started the first, match by a spectacular forehand down on the line for the first point. Slovakian opponent seemed to be perplexed at the firepower of the World No. 7 who made a comfortable victory with a vicious cross court backhand.
Osaka who once made into the Tokyo Finals in 2016 said to media, “I was not feeling any pressure. It was really difficult against her as she is a best player. But I tough it would be more fun. My serve in the match was really good and I am really glad to play here again”.
Next up Osaka is going to face any one of the players who are competing to reach the quarter finals. Her opponent can be either Estonia’s Anett Kontaveit or Czech Barbora Strycova who are competing against each other on Thursday match.
