PGA Tour announcement; huge changes are being made for FedEx Cup format and funding

PGA Tour has announced that the next year FedEx Cup champion will receive a total of 15 million dollars bonus at the end of the season.

The overall bonus prize pool for the FedEx Cup is to be increased from former 25 million to 60 million dollars. In addition to this there are going to be added incentives for finishing the season. His includes top standings which will be rewarded under Wyndham Rewards Top 10.

Player who is going to be on top of Wyndham Championship is going to receive a 2 million dollars bonus from an extra large pot of 10 million dollars.

FedEx Cup will now only have three events instead of three for playoff games which will be concluded at the Toru Championship held at East Lake in Atlanta, next year on end of August. Dell Technologies Championship has also been removed from schedule.

FedEx standing leader will now start of f the season finale on 10 under par while next four players in the standings will start at 8 under par. As the cores gradually reduce, the players on rank 26th to 30th will commence at level par.

Jay Monahan; PGA Tour Commissioner announced the news of these changes ahead of Tour Championship. He also said that “these are some significant and exciting changes for not only PGA tour but for our players, partner and most importantly for our fans”.

Davis Love; two times Ryder Cup champion who is also serving as player director for the PGA Tour policy board sad to in this regard, “it has been  gratifying chance to witness the growth, popularity as well as importance of FedEx Cup since it was launched back in 2007.”
