Phil Mickelson is surprised by his good performance at Safeway Open

Philip Mickelson says to media that he is surprised by his good performance at the PGA Toru’s season opener Safeway Open.

After his winless performance at the Ryder Cup in which Team USA lost by 17 ½ to 10 ½ by Team Europe, Philip was able to put his poor performance behind him and was able to deliver 18 holes at the Silverado Resort course located in Napa, California.

Philip managed to hit six straight brides and a shot a seven-under-par 65 in the first round. This allowed him to move within two shots to leader Sepp Straka.

Michelson told reporters that, “I certainly was not expecting this as I was expecting to go home after Friday. I am not playing well as I am not at my best. As for today I got in a little click of the things and got a nice rhythm to the play.”

Mickelson who hit 14 of 18 greens only needed 25 putts on the day. Mickelson; the 5 times major champion is only one of the two players on the field that are ranked among top 25. The other one was Patrick Cantley who finished the day with three under par.

Mickelson also stated to reporters as to how unhappy he was by the state of the course in Paris.

Mickelson said that, “I am not going to further play any tournament with a rough course like that. It is a waste of mu time. I am only going to play on the courses that are playable and on which I can play aggressive, attacking and making a lot of birdies, the type of Golf I lie to play”.
