Roger Federer beats Novak Djokovic to get revenge for the Wimbledon loss at the ATP Finals

Roger Federer was able to claim his revenge on Novak Djokovic for the defeat at the final of Wimbledon by beating him in the winner takes all match held t the ATP Finals in London which took place at O2 Arena.

Djokovic was aware that if he had any hopes to overthrow Rafael Nadal for the year-end ranking for the top spot he needed to win this match. He also needed the year-end top ranking spot for equalizing with the record of Pete Sampras for being the world no 1 for 6 years.




However, he was denied of this magnificent chance from Federer who won the match by 6-4 and 6-3 to join for the group of the semifinalists which have other players like Dominic Thiem and Bjorn Borg.

Federer now has his eyes peeled pout for a winning his record-extending the chance of winning the season-ending title with the 7th one and his first one since the 2011’s ATP Finals.

This was the 40th time that Federer and Djokovic had faced each other in their career and the first time since the final of Wimbledon. The audience at the O2 Arena was teeming with excitement for this ATP Finals match and they were not disappointed by their heroes.

After the late rally from Djokovic to equalize the game, he was grimacing in pain as he took hold of his elbow but maintained the brave face to keep Federer at bay for some more time.

However, Federer, the 20- times Grand Slam winner was able to win the match after 73 minutes long second set.

With this Federer will now advance into the semis of the ATP Finals for the 16th time in his last 17 appearances. As for the loss of Djokovic at this ATP Finals match, this marks a guaranteed no. 1 year-end ranking for Rafael Nadal for the 5t time in his career.
