LeBron James won’t be applying alongside Anthony Davis this season but his team made sure to win a big win over his old rival team.
Rajon Rondo scored a 20 feet jumper shot as the time of the game expired to lift the LA Lakers for a win over the Boston Celtics by 128-129 on Thursday night.
James from Lakers side scored 28 points with 12 rebounds and 12 assists while Kyle Kuzma scored 25 points and Rondo scored 17 points and 10 assists for the Lakers. This win was massive for the Lakers as they were coming off a big 42 points loss against the Indiana Pacers on Tuesday.
James, with his triple-double in Boston this game, is the third Lakers’ player to achieve this feat. The previous ones were Magic Johnson and Elgin Baylor.
James said, “I am starting to get more and more back to my original self. Every possession, every quarter; I take a hit, I see it off and keep going. I am working my way back and I am getting better and better with every single minute in the game.”
As for the Boston Celtics, they were led by Kyrie Irving who scored 24 points and 8 assists while Jayson Tatum scored 22 points with 10 rebounds and Daniel Theis scored 20 points for the Celtics. With this loss, Celtics’ five-game win streak finally snapped.
On Thursday Lakers already traded off Michael Beasley and Ivica Zubac to the Clippers for Mike Muscala.
Up next, LA Lakers will continue their six-game road trip as they will play against the Philadelphia 76ers on Sunday while Boston Celtics will host a game against the LA Clippers on Saturday.
