Despite the fact that Indiana Pacers played most of the game against the Denver Nuggets on Sunday night falling behind, Domantas Sabonis was still sure that his team was not far behind their opponents.
Sabonis then scored 22 points along with 15 rebounds and his 10 assists to have his career’ first triple-double while Doug McDermott scored 24 points to lead Indiana Pacers 115-107 victory over the Denver Nuggets.
Sabonis said “I just felt as if we were right down there. It was all a 5 to 6 points game. I felt like this was the right kind of the game that we needed to start our road trip right and I just believed in my team and the fact that we could take the next step. Surely, in the 4th quarter, every payer stepped up for the team and made some timely big plays.”
In only 1 sequence Sabonis was able to protect the lead of Indiana Pacers as he fought through the traffic in the final 3 minutes to make 3 of his offensive rebounds before he finished the game with his tip-in.
Michael Malone, the coach for Nuggets said, “McDermott killed us, Sabonis killed us. In the 4th quarter, they got 6 offensive rebounds. The missed very few times and they managed to push us around. They were more physical than our guys. It is a disappointing loss.”
Other players from Indiana Pacers’ side like TJ Warren and Malcolm Brigg both scored 22 points each as the Indiana Pacers ended their 10-game losing streak at the Pepsi Center.
From the Nuggets’ side, the lead was taken by Will Barton and Jerami Grant as both of them scored 16 points each for the team as they were playing without some key players like Jamal Murray, Gary Harris, and Paul Millsap.
Up next, Indiana Pacers will have their 2nd road game against the Utah jazz. As for Nuggets, they will be starting their 3-game road trip with the first game against the Minnesota Timberwolves.
