Scott Sabourin, the forward of the Ottawa Senators had to be taken off the ice placed on a stretcher following a scary hit in the game against Boston Bruins as his attempt to check net sideways for him.
Scott Sabourin was lined up for a hit with Bruins David Backes at the mark of 3:08 of the first period but then Backes held his ground for the impact and head of both players collided with one another.
Scott Sabourin appeared to have lost consciousness following this scary collision and fell on the ice with his face first.
Immediately, the medical personnel arrive on the ice and also called for a stretcher as shook up Backes saw the whole thing from up close.
Scott Sabourin was ultimately taken off the ice while strapped on the stretcher and as he left, he gave a thumbs up to the team and the crowd.

During the 2nd period, a tweet was made by Senators stating that Scott Sabourin had been taken to a local hospital for further evaluation. He was alright and in consciousness and talked with the doctors attending him as he left the arena.
Coach of Senators said that Scott Sabourin would be spending the night at the hospital for medical observation and would be released by the hospital after 2 days. He also said that Scott Sabourin suffered from a broken nose due to his face-first fall to the ice.

27 years old Sabourin has played his entire career in the minors until Senators drafted him from the tryout training camp. So far in 11 games, he has scored 1 goal along with 1 assist.
Cassidy said, “He has battled his way into the NHL and those are the guys you really need to root for. Hopefully, he is alight.”
