The first round blockbuster match of the upcoming US Open on Monday will feature two renowned players Serna Williams and Maria Sharapova 2hiel Johanna Konta will face Daria Kasatkina.
Williams and Sharapova have played against each other in the final of 4 Grand Slams but never at any other stage of the US Open where Williams has won the tournament 6 times while the only time Sharapova won the title at the flushing Meadows was back in 2006.
Both of these female players have achieved Grand Slams in their career but now Serena is heading to win her 24th Grand Slam title for equaling the record of 24 Grand Slam titles for the most singles titles while Sharapova is aiming for her 6th one.
As for Britain’s no. 1 Johanna Konta, who has never gone beyond the4th round of the US Open in the past will now try her luck in the first round match against world rank no. 42 Kasatkina and is in the same quarter as the world rank no. 3 Karolina Pliskova as well as the 2-time winner of the event Venus Williams.
In other lineups of the women’s singles draw, the defending champion and the top-seeded player of the event Naomi Osaka will play against her Russian opponent Anna Blinkova.
The teenage American sensation Cori Gauff, who made it to the 4th round of the Wimbledon earlier this year, has been given the wild card entry where she will face Anastasia Potapova.
