South African wristspinner Tabraiz Shamsi believes that embracing T20 leagues as a feeder system for international cricket, as opposed to viewing franchise tournaments and bilateral matches as conflicting, will benefit both forms of the game.

After South Africa’s victory over India in Gqeberha, Shamsi emphasized that leagues can help in creating more players ready for international cricket and allow for skill sharing.

Shamsi himself is a prime example of how T20 leagues can aid in player development, having gained experience in the CPL before making his debut for South Africa in an ODI series in West Indies.

He also highlighted the impact of the IPL on Indian players, like Yashavi Jaiswal, who made a successful transition to international cricket after excelling in the IPL.

He is optimistic that the SA20 will have a similar impact in preparing the new generation of South African players for international cricket.
