Sofia Kenin wins 2020 Australian Open title by winning over Garbine Muguruza

In the final of Women’s singles of Australian Open, Sofia Kenin was able to beat her opponent Garbine Muguruza to win her career’s first Grand Slam title.

Following in the footsteps of the last year’s winner of Australian open Naomi Osaka, and others like Ashleigh Barty and Bianca Andreescu, Sofia Kenin, the American tennis star was able to perform splendidly in her final of her career. She was able to win over her opponent by 4-6, 6-2, and 6-2.

Sofia Kenin, who had been marked for the heights of stardom at an early age because of being a prodigy, made her debut of tennis at age of 16 years at the US Open. With this win, she will now reach the career-high ranking of WTA no. 7.

Sofia Kenin, after receiving her career’s first major trophy from one of the winners of the same trophy, Lindsay Davenport, said, “This is my first speech, but I will still try my best. My dream has finally come true and I cannot describe the feeling of it. It is so very emotional for me. I have worked so hard for it. If anyone of you has a dream, go for it. It will come true. Last but not least, I would like to thank my team and my dad. I cannot believe that we are here today, finally. I am so grateful for all this.”

As for Garbine Muguruza, who was hoping to win the title as her 3rd Grand Slam title after getting the guidance from her precious coach named Conchita Martinez, who helped her win the Wimbledon back in 201, she said, “I think I am going to keep this short because I know that I am going to get really emotional. Congratulations to Sofia and I think you played a really great match and this was an incredible tournament. I think we are now going to see you play in many more finals.”
