LaMarcus and Aldridge and DeMar Rozan both lead the San Antonio Spurs as they managed to overcome the deficit of Nikola Jokic to win over Denver Nuggets in Game 6 of the first round series of the playoffs.
Aldridge led the team with his 26 points while DeRozan scored 25 points as the Spurs defeated Nuggets by 120-103 on Thursday night to force a game 7.
DeRozan said, “They have been doing great by throwing punches at us and also running away with it. We tried to sustain their hurting and understand whatever they were doing in the matches. We tried to match them and be aggressive and understand how to keep up with their rhythm. We tried to be aggressive on both ends and we managed to do it.”
Jokic who scored 26 of his total 43 points in the 2nd half of the game, is now the third highest postseason scorer right after Damian Lillard of Portland who scored 45 points and Kevin Durant of Golden State Warriors who scored 50 points. Jokic, who scored 12 rebounds as well as 9 assists, was only 1 assist shy of making his 2nd triple-double of the series.
Game 7 will be played in Denver on Saturday night where Nuggets hold the best league record for home wins this season. The inner of this series will be facing the Portland Trail Blazers in the semifinals.
Jokic, who was asked about was to what he expects in the finale, said, “I don’t know, this is my first Game 7. It is probably going to be even tougher than Game 6.”
In this game, 5 of the Spurs’ players finished in double digits, with Rudy Gay scoring his series high of 19 points.
Gregg Popovich, Spurs coach said, “we had a lot of people to participate tonight. A lot of people came and had good games. I think Nuggets probably have that more than we did tonight. It was great to see all of them. “
