T20 International Series 3rd Match; Pakistan wins third to deny South Africa series whitewash

Pakistani team denied South Africa the series sweep as the won the third and final match of the T20 Intentional series at the Centurion by 27 runs.

Beuran Hendricks’ Proteas who had previously won the first 2 matches at Cape Town and Johannesburg by six and seven runs consecutively were failed to stop the Pakistan who won by 168-9 at the SuperSport Park.

South Africa could manage 141-9 in response to Pakistan’s batting performance. Rassie van der Dussen made 41 runs off of 35 balls and Chris Morris made 55 runs off 29 balls. Chris managed to have his maiden T20I half-century off of 28 balls.

Pakistan’s Mohammed Amir took three wickets of South Africa while Shadab Khan was the crucial all-rounder player who managed to hit 3 sixes off of Andile Phehlukwayo’s ball in the final over as he also dismissed their two batsmen; David Miller and Phehlukwayo.

Pakistani team’s Babar Azam scored 23 runs off 11 balls in the second over delivered by Junior Dala. However, after that Pakistan started losing wickets at regular intervals as they lost Mohammed Rizwan who scored 26 runs.

Shadab who scored 22 runs off of 8 balls gave momentum to his team with 21-run final powerplay over.

Hosts were given hope by Morris who thumped Faheem Ashraf at 21 runs in the 14th over. But their hope was crushed as Amir and Faheem took out the lower order.

Morris still managed to complete his half-century with a six on the last ball of the over delivered by Shahid Afridi. However, despite completing his fifty, he shook his head dismissively as he was not in the mood to celebrate.

Up next, South Africa will play against the Sri Lankan team for the two-Test series; the first of which will be played on Wednesday, February 13th at Kingsmead in Durban.

As for Pakistan, they will now focus on Pakistan Super League that will be held in between February 14th to March 17th. After that, they will travel to England in April for 5 ODI and T20I against England and the Cricket World Cup.
