T20 International Series; India’s win for 2nd T20 match over New Zealand marred by controversial DRS call

India’s series-leveling 7-wicket win over the New Zealand for the 2nd match of the T20 International series at Auckland on Friday was marred by a controversial DRS call.

Daryl Mitchell of New Zealand got LBW on the field by Indian bowler Krunal Pandya. However, his decision was upheld by the TV umpire Shaun Haig. The decision was held true even after the HotSpot showed that batsman was inside-edged onto his pad.

India

Pandya’s delivery was clearly shown to b going straight into the stumps but Mitchell’s dismissal stood. A commentator named Simon called this decision to be as “Absolutely Ridiculous”.

The Back Caps in the series opener match defeated India by 80 runs in Wellington. In this 2nd T20 match, they only made 158-8 with Colin de Grandhomme making 58 runs off 28 balls, and Ross Taylor made 42 runs off 36 balls.

Indian opener, Rohit Sharma made 40 runs off 29 balls while Shikhar Dhawan made 30 runs off 31 balls nada made a stand at 79 runs as the tourists managed to win the match and set a Sunday decider of the series.

India was taken to victory by Rishabh Pant who made 40 runs off 28 balls and MS Dhoni who made 20 runs off 17 balls; as Pant sealed the win for India.
