According to a federal court filing on Thursday, Dearica Hamby and the Las Vegas Aces reached a mutual agreement to drop her case against the WNBA team.
Hamby, who currently plays for the Los Angeles Sparks, filed a lawsuit against the Aces and the league for allegedly mistreating her when she was pregnant. In May, a federal judge dismissed her complaint against the WNBA, citing Hamby’s inability to substantiate her claims that the league did not adequately look into the Aces.
In August 2024, Hamby filed a lawsuit alleging discrimination and retaliation by the Aces, which resulted to her trade to the Sparks in January 2023. In September 2024, the league and club submitted applications to have the lawsuit dismissed.
The U.S. District Court in Nevada received a move from the Aces and Hamby on Thursday to dismiss the case with prejudice, which prevents it from being refiled. Attorney fees are the responsibility of each side.
Hamby stated to Front Office Sports that she would “stand by what I said” in her complaint and would not disclose the case’s conclusion.
The Aces did not immediately respond.
