In the fight of Anthony Fowler vs. the late stand in fighter Theophilus Tetteh held at the Manchester Arena, Anthony Fowler claimed a bizarre 1st round KO win which puts him on the right path for a rematch with his rival fighter Scott Fitzgerald.
Teeth, who came to this fight replacing the injured fighter Jack Flatley, kept on struggling to remain standing in the fight due to the lack on grip on his boots. This caused him to drop 3 times in the fight’s opening first round before the fight was called off in Anthony Fowler’s favor.
Following the conclusion, Anthony Fowler made promise for revenge against Fitzgerald, who had won him over 12 months ago at the Liverpool Arena by the split decision.
Fowler said, “I am coming for your son. Let’s have the 12 rounds war for our fans and you will not be able to win me over this time.”
Eddie Hearn, the promoter also confirmed that these 2 fighters are most likely to fight against each other for the 2nd time this summer. He said, “It is time to set up this fight for the Scott Fitzgerald rematch. Fitz will have a fight on May 2nd whereas the rematch will be in July.”
In other fights of the night Zach Parker was able to win over Rohan Murdock by a stoppage victory in the penultimate round. With this win, he won the title of WBO Inter Continental Super Middleweight.
The undefeated Parker was in control of the fight from the start and managed to floor the Australia’s no. 1 boxer with his left hook during the 11th round to gain the stoppage victory and the top ranking in WBO.
Jakk Cullen also claimed the stoppage victory over Tomas Andres Reynosa in 2 rounds in his return.
Cullen, who had lost the fight against Felix Cash, the champion of Commonwealth Middleweight, started the fight with his long jab but had to bear counters. But early on in the 2nd round, Bolton dropped his opponent with the shot right punch which made Argentinean unsteady on his feet and referee to wave the fight off.
