Vasiliy Lomachenko has been named as the ‘Franchise’ champion by WBC along with Devin Haney given the WBC title

The title of the WBC “Franchise” champion has been given to Vasiliy Lomachenko whereas the governing body of boxing also named Devin Haney as the new holder of the WBC title.

Vasiliy Lomachenko , the boxing star from Ukraine was able to add the WBC title’s vacant belt to his already led WBO lightweight and WBA ‘super’ title belts after beating Luke Campbell back in August at The O2.

As for Devin Haney, he was able to get a stoppage victory against Zaur Abdullaev in a fight held in New York to become the WBC interim champ.

Haney, the still to be defeated American boxer is now elevated at a full champion status after the official ruling of the WBC at the annual convention.

A statement from WBC reads as follows, “Vasiliy Lomachenko is now the World Boxing’s Franchise Champion. This announcement has been made at the WBC’s 57th annual Convention held at the Grand Oasis Hotel located in Cancun.”

With the status of the champion, Devin Haney will now be appearing on the same bill of the KSI VS Logan Paul rematch that will be held on 9th November in Los Angeles.
