Virat Kohli scores 94 runs for not out to lead India’s 208-run chase for beating West Indies at the T20 International

Virat Kohli was able to score a magnificent 94 runs for not pout to see that India was able to win the chase target of 208 runs to win over West Indies by a margin of 6 wickets on the 1st day of their T290 International series held This Friday in Hyderabad.

Virat Kohli was able to reach the mark of 94 runs off of 54 balls by hitting for 6 sixes and 6 4s as he paced up the innings at the time when his team needed the most from their star batsmen and the captain. He scored only 1 run per ball for his first 20 deliveries before getting 74 runs off of the next 30 deliveries.

The Indian side was helped by KL Rahul as well, who scored 62 runs off of 40 deliveries as he shared the second wicket century partnerships with Kohli before he was ousted in the 14th over by Kahry Pierre. Then came Reisbha Pant, who scored 18 runs and Shreyas Iyer but both were ousted momentarily but the ground was held firm by Kohli to guide India to victory with only 8 balls to spare.

Earlier in the batting innings of West Indies, Shimron Hetmyer scored 56 runs off of 41 deliveries to make his maiden T20I fifty alongside Evin Lewis who scored 40 runs off of 17 deliveries. The innings was cleared by the 3rd top run-scorer Kieron Pollard who scored 37 runs off of 19 deliveries.

Deepak Chahar, who got 2 wickets by giving away 56 runs ousted Lendl Simmons at the start after India won the toss and chose to bowl first. It was only Hetmyer and Kieron Pollard who thwarted the early attack from India.

Hetmyer was able to reach the mark of T20I fifty off of 35 deliveries but was almost ousted 2 times, both times by Sundar.

These 2 teams will now meet up with each other once more for the 2nd T20I of the three-match series in Thiruvananthapuram on Sunday.
