Vucevic has 30 points and 20 boards as Magic routs Raptors by 116-87

Things have been going badly for the Orlando Magic since the start of December but all that changed on Friday night.

Nikola Vucevic led the Magic’s with his 30 points and 20 rebounds to win the game for the team by 116-87 against the Toronto Raptors. With this game, Magic’s have finally ended their four-game losing streak.

Five of the Orlando Magic players finished for the night in double digits with a 60-41 rebounding advantage. D.J Austin of the Magic scored 17 points with six assists, second highest for the team on Friday night.

With the Friday night game’s conclusion, Vucevic has become the third player of this decade, fifth in this century and ninth in the last 44 years to have scored at least 30 points with 20 rebounds and 8 assists in a game. Other players who have achieved this mark since 1974 include some big names like Charles Barkley (three times), DeMarcus Cousins (twice), Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, George McGinnis, David Lee, Tim Duncan, Dirk Nowitzki, and Alex English.

Vucevic talking about team’s win said, “I think you guys must have understood it by now that it was time for us to turn things around. For us, everything clicked tonight on both ends. However, defense is the main reason we were able to win this game.”

VanVleet of the Raptors said, “This is the big boys league and these things happen. This is nothing new and we are also not the first team to lose like this.”

Raptors were led by Leonard who scored 21 points while Serge Ibaka added in his 17 points and 8 rebounds for the team.

Raptors who were coming into this game with the best record in the Eastern Conference at 26-11 have now fallen behind the Milwaukee Bucks with this loss.

Up next, Toronto Raptors will now play a game against the Chicago Bulls on Sunday night whereas Orlando Magic will play a game against the Detroit Pistons on Sunday night.
