Westbrook leads in return to Oklahoma but OKC Thunder beat Rockets

The return of Russell Westbrook to Oklahoma was spoiled by the OKC Thunder.

Westbrook led the Houston Rockets with his 34 points by the OKC Thunder was still able to win over the Houston Rockets by 113-92 on Thursday night.

Westbrook who had been the MVP of NBA as well as the 2 times scoring champion for the OKC Thunder before he moved to Rockets in last summer for Chris Paul.




Fan clearly remembered him as the player who stayed with OKC thunder when Kevin Durant moved to Golden State back in 2016 and they showed him with much appreciation before the game.  A tribute video was also played and the crowd broke into loud cheers in the manner as if he was still in OKC Thunder.  The crowd stood tall for a long time as they cheered and chanted M V P and then the announcer moved to others.

Westbrook sad of all this love, “Some things, you simply cannot put them into words. I have played here for so long and I have so many great memories of great people. They are the absolute best fans one can have in the world. They come with it every time and they came with it tonight as well.”

This atmosphere also helped the OKC Thunder to have a splendid night.

Danilo Gallinari took the lead of OCK Thunder with his 23 points along with 11 rebounds while Gilgeous-Alexander scored 20 points for the team. As for James Harden of the Rockets, he was held to only 38 points in this game.

Following the game, Westbrook went to OCK Thunder bench and embraced many players before he hugged the owner of Thunder; Clay Bennett. Westbrook was the last player of Thunder who played for the team since 2008 before they moved to Seattle.

Up next, Rockets will host a game against the Minnesota Timberwolves while OCK Thunder will host a game against the Los Angeles Lakers.
